Ingredients

  • ground beef1¼ lb
  • plain breadcrumbs⅓ cup
  • eggs1 count
  • yellow onion½ count
  • ground allspice¼ tsp
  • butter3 tbsp
  • all-purpose flour3 tbsp
  • beef broth2 cups
  • heavy cream½ cup
  • wide egg noodles12 oz

Instructions

  1. 1

Mix the beef, breadcrumbs, egg, grated onion, allspice, 1 tsp salt, and pepper. Roll into 1-inch meatballs (about 24).

  2. 2

Brown the meatballs in 1 tbsp butter in a large skillet over medium heat, 8-10 minutes, turning often; transfer to a plate.

Cook the noodles per the package. Meanwhile, melt the remaining butter in the skillet, whisk in flour for 1 minute, then whisk in broth until smooth.

  4. 4

Stir in the cream, return the meatballs, and simmer 5 minutes until the sauce thickens and the meatballs reach 160°F.

  5. 5

Serve over the noodles. A spoonful of cranberry or lingonberry jam on the side is a fun kid touch.
